Shopping With Jere

Good Morning! Time to get the paper out and find the specials for the week at the Grocery store, Ya’ll!

Let’s see, there are some major pork specials going on at Kroger, HEB, Aldi, Randall’s and Fiesta. That brings to mind some great dishes with the Pork Roasts at One Dollar per Pound.
For the Boston Butt or the Picnic Shoulder, this is where I am headed, and it will be ready on Saturday.  The Memphis Smoked Pulled Pork with Dry Rub along with a Rotisserie Pork Tenderloin with Dry Rub.  While I am at it, I’ll make a half-gallon of the basting and table sauce.
This also means that we will be having my infamous Pulled Pork Enchiladas with Homemade Tortillas!

Breakfast sausage in on sale at all the stores at 2 pounds for $5.00.  I see a few sausage and egg breakfast casseroles in our future!

If you like this blog and would like to see it continue, please feel free to help out!  Every dollar helps!

The Thursday specials at Fiesta are quite good this week!  Sirloin Pork Chops at .99 cents a pound, Fresh Ground Beef at $1.97 a pound, Medium Heads on Shrimp at 2.67 per pound, Large Headless Peeled Shrimp, $3.97 per pound and Whole Fryer Chickens at .67 cents per pound.  Man, what I can do with a haul like this!  I would be in the kitchen for two days and eat for a month!

Shrimp is also on sale here in Houston. At $3.97 per pound at HEB or the Thursday Special of $2.97 per pound at Fiesta, time to stock up and make this fantastic Pickled Shrimp with Capers save the shells and make the Lobster and Shrimp Stock for future use. Gumbo season is about to be upon us, and this is a prep for that season. Lobster tails are also on sale at various locations for $5.00 per tail. I might also get a wild hair and fix the NOLA BBQ Shrimp I dearly love!

Chicken Thigh Meat is on sale at Food Town for $1.39 per pound. I don’t know about you, but I prefer the thigh meat over the breast meat as it has a lot more moisture.  Perhaps it is time for a Chicken Rice Casserole for Sunday go to Meetin Lunch. Chicken Stock with! Chicken Enchiladas also come to mind, coupled with fresh Borachio Beans.
This is also a good buy to make

Where’s the Beef! It’s right chere!  I couldn’t resist.  Fiesta wins this week with Top Round Steak for $2.87 per pound, Ribeye Bone-In Steaks for $3.97 per pound, TBone or New York Strips for $4.97 per pound and 12 ounces of Bacon for $1.99. I like to take cuts of meat like this and use them in my ground beef or mincemeat mix for burgers, meatloaf, and other fantastic dishes.
While you are at Fiesta, if you choose to go,  1 and ½ dozen eggs are on sale for .99 cents! (that’s 18 eggs by the way)

That’s it for this segment of “Shopping with Jere”! Have a Blessed Day!
